Sushi Machines Demo Stand

Background

In April 2021, Displays 2 Go began working with Stuart Aamodt, MD of Sushi Machines, on a custom 6x3 expo stand he had commissioned a design for in his native Western Australia. The plan was for D2G to build the stand in their Sydney HQ before installing at expos in Melbourne in July and September 2021.

The Challenge

The second wave of Covid scuppered all delivery plans and timelines with cancellations and postponements of expos along with non-essential travel. Stuart, who had recently acquired the Sushi Machines business, was left with no trade show programme to showcase his product and had already outlaid significant investment to do so. Like countless others, it was a stressful time for him and D2G but constant communication was key during this period along with a growing mutual trust in each other’s business.

The Solution

The stand was built in Sydney whereupon D2G set about bringing Stuart’s design to reality. There were a few tweaks and revisions made in January 2022 with regards to signage and the custom mesh screens used in front of the cabinetry but once restrictions were eased we were ready to deliver the stand in both Melbourne and Sydney … and what a result!

The essence of the Sushi Machines stand is to recreate a laneway style Japanese restaurant with use of illuminated light box signs as signage. Each sushi machine has a lightbox above it and a custom entrance counter and desk draws you onto the stand from the aisle. Stuart commented when he finally met Phil Stoddart from D2G in Sydney that the response to his stand had been “ massively positive with organisers, visitors and fellow exhibitors commenting and congratulating me on the stand”.

Phil was delighted for Stuart and his team too and said “ Its been a long 18 months for everyone involved in this project but I’m both personally and professionally delighted for Stuart. He’s been great to work with and had confidence from afar in the D2G team to deliver for him and its satisfying to know we have done so”
